Welcome to the Poet’s Pulpit Forum!
Here you will be able to discuss anything literary or non-literary, post poems, critique poems, list published works, recommend books…the list, we are sure, will continue to grow.
The name Poet's Pulpit evolved from the poetry readings held at the universities, colleges and community coffee houses across the country.
Each month, poets, students and poetry lovers would gather at their favourite watering hole, but to our dismay, most would not read from their own work, but instead, would avoid any embarrassment by reading from someone else's work.
Our philosophy is simple: Don't be embarrassed. We want new and old poets, first time writers and poet laureates to come to our bookstore and recite their poems whenever they feel like it. We want to avoid the stuffy informal monthy meetings and turn this message board into the best on-line poetry fourm on the web.
So if you have any comments or suggestions on how to improve this forum please email us at forum@poetspulpit.com and we will see what we can do.
We are a strong proponent of free-speech, however, like everything else in life there must be certain guidelines to adhere by.
They are:
1. If you are a poet and want to post a poem, please post only one per day. Allow others the time to read, and if they so choose, to comment on it.
2. If you are going to critique or comment on a poem, feel free to do so. Do not, however, critique the poet.
3. If you post a poem and it has language or imagery you wouldn’t use, let’s say in front of your mother or in a church, please, in the subject line include (Content Warning)
e.g Happy Happy Bunnies (Content Warning).
Only use the “Content Warning” label when you believe the language or imagery you have chosen may be offensive to some readers. Assume the readers are of an adult age and will be able use their common sense and decide whether or not the poem is appropriate.
4. Due to limited spacing, we cannot allow any images in the forum.
5. Under no circumstances will we allow any pornography or hate literature, thinly disguised as art. We will delete these posts and ban the member immediately. We are trying to build a community here, so if any member comes across this kind of posting please email us at forum@poetspulpit.com. Thank you.
6. If you no longer want to be a member and would like to delete your record please email us at forum@poetspulpit.com. and we will do so as soon as we possibly can.
Thank you,
